Abstract

The implantation of fertilized ova and the formation of the placenta are crucial steps in reproduction. This review summarizes current information about these steps, including some of the molecular mechanisms that mediate them and how they may go awry, with consequent loss of the pregnancy.

Topics

implantation physiology, early pregnancy survival, blastocyst implantation mechanisms, placentation and pregnancy loss, progesterone role in implantation, first trimester miscarriage causes, molecular mechanisms of implantation, embryo implantation failure, recurrent pregnancy loss implantation, luteal phase progesterone implantation, endometrial receptivity early pregnancy, prostaglandins in implantation
